What is a book talk? Officially, A book talk is a short presentation about a book, usually given in a school setting, with the intent to convince someone to read the book. Generally it is not a review, synopsis, or analysis. The speaker gives a glimpse of the characters, setting, and conflict without revealing the resolution. However, if there is a book I REALLY LOVED reading, I'm going to bend the rules a little. I like to present five books a week to my students. Generally, I do not have time to read five books a week. These book talks are more like "commercials" to encourage students to read more. Some of the book talks may be in my own words, or I may pull from other sources (always cited).
